 Task 1.

lurking, in the dark was somebody

The power sentence

if you waffle a lot, try starting your sentence  with a power statement of 12 words or less.

example: money is the root of all evil.

what is right, isn't always popular.

hard work leads to positive results.

surprisingly, i forgot what we were doing.

be careful at how you act.


the 'red white and blue' sentence

use this sentence style when you have several ideas to convey about a topic 

example: successful student are focused, hard-working and punctual.

the earths key resource are clean air, fresh water and natural environment.

sunshine, water and friends make for a perfect weekend adventure.

rain, mud and friends make the worst weekend adventure.

Adverbs/Write that essay

 The W sentence- makes the sentence sound thoughtful & Knowledgeable

Remember the rule:not every w word works as a sentence starter.

Remember to put the comma in when the parts affected by your

w word are finished.

examples-who,while,wheras,when,where,what,whilst,with

Whilst the class was eating, i read my book.

Where you like chocolate, others prefer candy. 

With money everybody, goes crazy.

where famous people live in rich places, other people lives in cites not so helpful.

whilst the teacher is writing down, examples we were writing down.

with money people, buy cars. 

when your in a test you shouldn't talk

when it starts raining you should go inside 

when the tagger comes you should run

when he walked home he said goodbye to his friends 

commonly everyone talks a lot 

calmly Taylor calmed down

quickly everyone started to work

suddenly everyone started to be annoying  

under the bridge there was troll

above the bridge there where cars 

up in the sky there are clouds

The "ing' sentence

Use the-ing version of the verb e.g to run-running

Remember the rule-when you finish you-ing phrase, place a comma, then write the rest of the sentence.

Listening, watching, running, realising, emerging, grasping, speaking, analysing, signalling, exposing, gossiping, acknowledging,

exposing himself, he had no choice but to run

grasping for air he, swam back to shore

Realising the danger, people fled from the cities.

shaking away the nerves, he walked towards the microphone.

acknowledging the speaker, he bowed his head in silence.

realising he was late, he ran to school

watching TV, i slowly drifted off

The "ed' sentence

use the ed version of the verb e.g to jog-jogged. This makes for a punchy start to your sentence.

Remember the rule-when you finish your-ed phrase, place a comma, then write the rest of the sentence.

some-ed words frustrated, surprised, excited, committed, undawnted, determind, overpowered, concerned, cornered, delighted, enthralled,

Example- Determined to win, Tony pushed himself the last meters of the sprint.

concerned for the welfare of others, the prime minister passed new laws.

frustrated by the ongoing rain, i stared our the window.

overpowered by the a lightning strike, i felt so strange

committed to the case, i went on to find the body

cornered by the crowd, he looked of a quieter place

delighted by the food, he asked for more

excited about the game, i played straight away

concerned about his uncle, he called for help.

surprised about a clue, on a cold case he used it to find the person

The adverb sentence: Adverbs describe verbs. e.g Surprisingly, Confusingly, Firstly, Remarkable, Often,

Adverb sentence starters add interest or intrigue to our work.

Remember the rule: when you start a sentence with an adverb place a comma after the adverb then write the rest of the sentence.

Examples-Accidentally, Shockingly, Concerningly, Excitedly, Significantly, Similarly, Simply, 

Simply, I added the milk to the batter.

Shockingly, the lunch today was served hot.

Unfortunately, school takes so long.

Interestingly, this is quite fun.

Skilfully, he tricked them and scored a 3 sec goal.

Swiftly, he hid from his brother in hide in seek.

Unfortunately, he stepped on a twig and it broke.

Quickly, the brother ran for him.

Quietly, he slipped out as fast as possible.

Thankfully, the brother didn't find him.

Suddenly, we had to eat.

Examples- in, against, between, over, behind, within, under, below, at, for, throughout, near, about

a preposition gives location or movement.

Remember the rule: When you start the sentence with a preposition, you need to put a comma when the movement or position ends.

In the beginning, we talked a lot.

throughout the lesson, i tried not to fall asleep.

Near the basketball court, it the rubbish bin.

Under the bridge, there was a troll

Over the bridge, there was a car

Sir Ernest Rutherford

Today we learnt about Sir Ernest Rutherford Sir Ernest Rutherford was born in the 1870s and died when he was 66, he was a New Zealand physicist known for his prizes in physics and chemistry. His greatest experiment took place in 1909 right after when he got his Nobel prize, the experiment was called the gold foil experiment Sir Ernest Rutherford also won these prizes
  • Discovered the alpha and beta radioactivity

  • discovery of the atomic nucleus

  • discovered the proton

  • Nobel prize in chemistry

  • Copley medal

Hello for health we made marshmallow towers with Sam and Elias we were given eight skewers twelve marshmallows and a cup there were two factors that we need to finish they were structural support and height here is a picture of our tower
